Our next project interview is with a team with ambitious plans to launch an NFT project, a token and a marketplace.
Introducing The Seal Society.
We chatted to founder and Creative Director Stevie to find out more about the project.
Tell us a little about The Seal Society, what type of artwork is it, what size drop?
Well, the lore goes a little like this, there was four adventures commissioned by the decentralized nation of earth to explore this habitable planet that had just been found. So, they pack their bags, head on that spaceship, and get going.
Upon getting there they see this beautiful beach and they decide to land there, just before they where about to land! A huge gust of wind topples the spaceship over and they crash! Thankfully, they all survived, but the ship totalled and the only thing that made it was the artist “Yova” digital tablet.
As they take there helmets off, they realize the planet is habitable and breathe in the freshest air they have ever experienced. Fish are jumping out the sea, fruits galore, it is just beautiful.
They get a little naïve and next thing you know; they are surrounded! They each turn and see…. Seals? but these are not your everyday seals, they have on suits, and manners, and communicated with each other, and next thing you know Stevie passes out!
Rjay says “Hi” they greet him back, knowing the language already. Long story short, they offer to help fix the ship, give them hot water and food, and the bring them back to their society. As a thank you the artist Yova agrees to create a portrait of any seals who would like one, instantly thousands lined up to get their portraits taken. This Gen.1 collection represents the first 3,333 portraits taken of The Seal Society.
Where did the idea for the project come from?
The idea came from the need for me to create a CNFT, I knew I wanted to create something fun and exciting, that not only looked good, but felt good.
When I first contacted Yova I wanted to have a realistic style to the seals, very sophisticated and stout in stature.
iety, then we decided to shorten it to The Seal Society to open the possibility of more types of seals. I have always had an inventive mind and always come up with crazy things, I guess you can say this is one of them.
What makes this project unique?
The team makes it unique; this is all our first project and we have put so much heart and soul into this, I feel like it has become its own being now. Each one of us has played a huge part in brainstorming ideas to make this happen. The community makes this project unique; we have one of the most solid, organic, foundations in our community!
Entering the seal society discord you will instantly see how real and committed our members are. We have fun games, giveaways, insider jokes, seal facts, specific roles for our seals, and more. I feel the Seallyness of our community makes our project top notch!
Your website says that each seal plays a different role in the society and comes with different benefits to holders. Can you explain this a little more?
Yes so, each seal belongs to a colony, there is a total of six colonies in our Gen.1 Collection. Sophisticated, Secret Agents, Robotics, Military, 9 to 5, and Party!
Each one has unique traits and a certain look to them, so you will know which one goes were.
The Sophisticated Seals run the show, they are your government officials, politicians, business owners, and investors.
They wear suits, smoke the finest cigars, and more than likely own yachts.
Their holder benefit is a plus to the staking reward earned for staking your seals.
The Secret Agents are what I would call your 007, they do co-op missions and keep things in order behind the scenes.
They are recognized by the pistol and the pose, there is also another secret agent, but I must keep it a secret for now.
Secret Agents can go on extraction missions to uncover viable information and receive a reward in return.
These missions will occur in smart contracts that integrate with the CNFT.
For example, one of the first extraction missions will be a puzzle that lasts one epoch, if solved you complete the mission and receive an award. More to come on this colony as we develop.
The Robotics, one of my personal favorites, are the mechanics and the builders in the society.
They are the ones committed to helping the builders fix their spaceship.
The holder benefit for robotics is they can build meta blocks; you can later combine these meta blocks to create metaverse assets.
This is going to be a huge benefit as we develop, we are already in talks with one of the largest metaverses on Cardano, so this is going to be fun.
Next is our Military, a huge thank you first to all the Military Men and Women across the world. You keep us all safe and secure and we thank you for that.
These Seals have uniforms and represent Military of the past in our knights.
Holder benefit is one of the most unique, they can recruit CNFTs!
Recruitment will happen in events that interact with the smart contract, every holder of a military seal will have a chance to recruit a CNFT during our event.
This is going to be huge as we partner with other projects for recruitment.
Next, we have our 9 to 5 Seals, these are close to my heart because I have been working my whole life.
These seals keep the economy going, they keep the engine running and are the base of the society. They are recognizable by the clothing.
Now 9 to 5 Seals, to me, has one of the most Alpha holder benefits, they can create Families, I cannot say anymore.
Finally, we have the Party! Party Seals are a fun, lively bunch of seals! They are recognizable by the shiny chain, fur jackets, and overall style.
Now the party holder benefit, air drops! These airdrops will happen throughout the project and will be a reveal style NFT drop. Super exciting and super fun!
Hope I did not go on to long but that is the gist of it.
Why did you decide to launch a Token ($FISH) and what role will the token play for holders?
We wanted to launch a token so that our society can have an ecosystem. I know we have ADA as our base, but we wanted to have something more themed and able to do unique and cool things with.
So, for holders it will be our Social Token, you can trade amongst each other, Stakes Seals to earn Fish, and Mint CNFT assets on The Fish Market.
There are 10 billion $FISH in the sea, and we are committed to creating a 100M ADA Market Cap with our token. Every $Fish is at a rate of 0.01 ADA per fish. With limited availability and unique use cases we will reach this goal within the next 5 years.
What is the Fish Market? Your own marketplace for the NFTs or something else?
Yes, The Fish Market is our Marketplace where we will provide unique CNFT minting experiences for Our Society. You will be able to mint Merch CNFTs that you can hold, sell on secondary, or claim for the physical item. You can mint Capsule Collection CNFT drops we do with our partners, and you can mint metaverse assets.
The Fish Market as I see it will be an evolving and ongoing thing that just gets better and more unique with time.
What about the team behind the project? Tell us a bit about the team, what are your background(s) and what has led you to start this project.
So, each one of us has a unique story and background. I, Stevie, am the Creative Director and Founder of the project. My goal is to keep the creative vision intact and stay open minded to new and innovative possibilities. I was raised in Southern California and exposed to art and culture at an incredibly early age.
What lead me to this project is the knowledge that NFTs exist, my father hipped me to them and ever since I caught the bug!
I decided to begin creating an CNFT because I know where my strengths are, and I feel I can do it.
Our Web Developer, Oliver, is such a talented young man from Australia. He has been a rock with us ever since the beginning, developing our site, and guiding us in the technical aspects of the project. He has an extensive IT background and has one of the most dynamic CNFT collaboration platforms releasing soon.
Our Community Moderator, Rjay, is one of the smartest guys I have met in the space.
He maintains composure and keeps everything flowing at such an amazing rate that I am just simply grateful he is a part of the project. Again, he has been with us ever since the beginning and I foresee us doing more amazing things in the future.
Our Artist Yova is one of the hidden gems on Cardano when it comes to quality art. This project is his breakthrough in the space, and he is going to be a superstar! So talented and when I initially commissioned him for that first seal, I was a little bit worried because I did not get anything back for about a week. But once he sent me that very first sneak peek that we released on our initial twitter post for the first 222 OGs, I knew he had something special.
Each of us four members are the core of The Seal Society, we do plan to add more official members to the team as we grow and develop.
What got the team interested in Blockchain and NFT’s?
I was familiar about the existence of blockchain and crypto for years. I never was really that interested though because I just could not find the use in investing in it, a bit naïve yes, but it just was not my thing.
Now since NFTs came along, that totally changed my perception, what was once digital coins, is now a digital art museum that is worldwide! The art aspect and the community aspect really got me involved on another level, I am just so grateful Cardano has been so welcoming to us.
What has been the biggest challenge you have faced so far with this project?
I would say the biggest challenge has been simply not knowing everything to expect. This is my first project, and in being so I learned as I went. Of course, there has been mistakes made and things I would have done differently had I known the outcome, but in a way, it makes it more fun and exciting to explore.
This has been one of the most mind opening experiences of my life, and I foresee the biggest challenges ahead.
Why did you choose to launch on Cardano?
Fees. Lol. Seriously though that made a substantial difference, I started on Ethereum as a Trader and just could not get my feet settled. Went over to Solana for a bit and just did not feel right. Found Cardano and it felt like home.
What started as doing it for the fees quickly turned into falling in love with the community, Now I want to grow and building within the CNFT space so that we can have more market share. Cardano has a long way to go, and we want to be here every step.
How do you see the NFT space evolving over the next few months?
I feel this Summer being huge in general for NFTs. I feel CNFTs will hit a space of finding itself this year.
I see projects coming out and a lot being done, the ones with strong teams and support will be here this time next year.
The CNFT space is going to see a huge 3d animation CNFT rush sometime in the next few months. I think it will overall be good, we will also begin to see collectives that release multiple CNFTs.
What project would you ideally love to do a collaboration with?
To be honest we already have projects we are doing collaborations with I do not want to give to much away, but just know The Seal Society loves all our CNFT friends.
Do you collect NFT’s too? What is your favourite?
To be honest I am not the biggest collector, now that I have hopped the fence to the creative side. My personal favorite style of NFTs right now is 3d Animated with audio PFP NFTs 🙂
