Welcome to our very first project interview for 2022! (2021 had some great interviews, find them all here)
We kick off the new year with a chat with a brand new project, Soho Kids. A project that has picked up popularity very quickly, from their first Tweet showcasing the exciting artwork.
We chatted to Oxy, the project creator, who is well known in the CNFT scene and also Social Media Manager for jpeg.store.
Tell us a little about Soho Kids, what type of artwork is it, what size drop?
Soho Kids is a 5000 3D PFP project focused on urban culture, mainly fashion.
Where did the idea for the project come from?
Both of the founders have always been fans of fashion and we’re seeing such big movement around that industry in other chains like Ethereum, so we felt like we should bring that over to the Cardano ecosystem as well.
What about the team behind the project? Tell us a bit about the team, what are your background(s) and what has lead you to start this project.
Diogo is a Designer and 3D artist that has worked mainly in the fashion and music industry having worked for some well known streetwear brands and musicians in Portugal.
Oxy has a huge interest for fashion, worked for 3 years in E-commerce and Marketing where he built a few fashion-related brands, is currently working as SMM on jpg.store and has been a part of Cardano for over a year (and in CNFT’s since June 2021).
What is the long term vision for the project? Is there a roadmap at this stage or will you be building as you go?
The long term vision is to build a fashion-related brand, branching off into all aspects of urban culture, from building a fashion line to working with designers, streetwear/skateboarding stores etc…
We don’t have a roadmap per se, but will be displaying our goals in our soon-to-release website.

As a prominent member of the CNFT space you have obviously seen a lot of good and bad projects launch on Cardano over the last few weeks/months. What good or bad things have you taken from these projects when launching your own?
We have definitely taken inspiration from Degen Crypto Club and Universe.25.
Projects that showed that conviction and hard work pay off and that you shouldn’t use sketchy marketing methods to build fake hype.
We also have seen projects using these sketchy marketing stunts fail horribly due to a lack of a real community and conviction from founders.
How important is it for a new project to build a community prior to a launch?
A community is necessary before launch because if people don’t actually know you and understand your goals, they will just be looking to cash out right after mint. Community is currency.
Do you need to be either an artist or a developer to launch your own NFT project? What advice would you give to someone who maybe had an idea for a project but didn’t know where to start?
You definitely need to be either an artist, a developer, or both to ensure that you push out a quality project. You don’t have to be the best artist or dev though, passion and hard work goes a long way.
We have seen a number of “rug pulls” or teams abandoning projects recently, either due to malicious intent or poor sales. As someone about to launch a project, does this worry you at all? The community are collectively having their confidence shaken by bad projects?
We are not worried about the latest rug pulls as we have enough to prove that we are legit and do not have any bad intentions.
It does sadden me that so much ADA is effectively being stolen from the community with these immoral schemes, however.
How do you see the NFT space evolving over the next 6-12 months?
We believe the space will grow immensely within the next year as a lot of people start to pay attention to Cardano NFT’s which are still very lowkey at this point when compared to other blockchains.
What project would you ideally love to do a collaboration with?
We would absolutely love to work with Clay Mates, it would be awesome to see a few Soho Kids in the Clay Way as well as our rework of a few of their clothing pieces (waiting on our Clay merch 😛)
What is the favourite NFT in your personal collection?
My favorite NFT at the moment is probably my 1/1 Degen Crypto Club although I have a lot of other NFT’s that I am really proud of.

Big thanks to Oxy for giving up the time to answer our questions. Don’t forget to check out Soho Kids on Twitter and Discord.
