The next interview in our series of CNFT interviews is with a project launching 3D NFTs around a story-based project called Chains of War.
The 3D artwork is very detailed and the lore behind the project seems very interesting, i’d recommend giving their website a read.
We chatted to the team to find out more about the project, the artwork, the team behind it and the plans for the future.
Tell us a little about Chains of War, what type of artwork is it, what size drop?
We at Chains of War are building a neo-fantasy Metaverse world on the Cardano blockchain. 10,000 NFT Heroes roam the vicious world of Tyrrha.
These NFTs are high quality 3D models built for the future. You’ll see multiple species with over 1000+ unique traits.
Implementing utility, tokenization and gamification will be feasible aims as we maintain a high level quality standard, raising the bar in the CNFT Space.
Basically our motto is collect, earn and play!
Where did the idea for the project come from?
It started a couple years back. We – a group of crypto enthusiast friends – are crazy about fantasy. Books, films, games. If it’s fantasy, we devoured it.
We wrote about it, played the games and watched the movies but never got to the point to actually bring it to the next level. But with COVID lockdown, we stepped up our game and decided to really chase our dream: building our ultimate fantasy world.
Something that was near impossible given the financial needs for this.
But around October last year, with the possibilities on the Cardano blockchain and with it the emergence of CNFTs, we began achieving our goal: to unite all fantasy fans in one NFT Fantasy Community.

What makes this project unique?
What makes this project unique is that the world of Tyrrha is inhabited by various species and shaped by historical events, cultural habits, macro-economical systems and social structures. This will translate to classes and ranks for the 10,000 3D NFT Heroes. Every little detail has a purpose. Every colorway means something. Every weapon has a name. Every NFT has a rank and class. And this all in corresponds with the story/lore that shapes the world of Tyrrha. Not to mention the utility and gamification linked to all of the above, that will follow further down our roadmap.
Your website says that the project is a “story driven” NFT series, can you explain this a little more? Are there plans to build a book series on the Chains of War universe or is it mainly around gaming?
We believe that besides great looking, appealing art, a NFT is an investment. But when holding, you can really bond with your NFTs character. For several reasons.
By providing a narrative we hope to increase this bonding even more! Beyond this, our approach invites us to explore the possibilities of releasing a collection of stories that focus on the journey of Tyrrha’s protagonists. We have yet to decide the format these stories will be released in.
How will the Play to Earn side of the project work?
The gamification phase is further down our roadmap, so subject to change, but we do have a very clear view on how we want to be part of revolutionizing the gaming industry as we know it. We believe the blockchain technology will be used to drastically change the way we play games. This has everything to do with the Play to Earn mechanism.
We believe that decentralized gaming will open up possibilities to empower the individual gamer financially instead of only the gaming company.
Actual play to earn gaming: Escape from Tyrrha.
If you zoom in on the Chains of War game. We’re talking about a 3D OPEN WORLD SHOOTER LOOTER FANTASY GAME.
You log in by linking your Cardano Wallet and by doing so every Chains of War NFT will be instantly loaded as a 3D character.
This is your Chains of War Hero. Customizable with every item you can find in the game.
The player will drop into a 3D open world with a loadout composed out of your inventory in the main menu. When you drop into Tyrrha a timer starts to run.
The goal is to survive by killing PVE or PVP enemies, they will drop loot (scaling from regular to epic and legendary). The player has to reach a random Extraction Point before the timer ends. If you do survive, you can take all the loot you are carrying. If you get killed, you lose it all.

So a game plan is vital. Because every item you took from your scanger run has value. Every plant you harvested, every bullet, arrow, armour or sword you found has its own value based on supply and demand on the Chains of War Marketplace.
Valuable in a way that it can pay your bills. Because selling these items on the Chains of War marketplace earns you $MIRA, the Chains of War Token that will be made available during the utilization phase. As a result you can swap Mira to ADA on a DEX.
Result: Play to Earn on the Cardano blockchain.
Important note: many benefits will be made available for genesis Chains of War NFT holders. These will be rolled out shortly after the NFT drop on April 29th. All of these perks will be passive and/or active during the utility phase and gamification phase of the Chains of War project.
What about the team behind the project? Tell us a bit about the team, what are your background(s) and what has lead you to start this project.
The core team are a group of friends who are inspired by fantasy franchises such as Lord of the Rings, World of Warcraft and The Elder Scrolls.
We are experienced in modelling, video editing, developing, merchandising, branding and licensing, project management, storytelling and legal affairs/support. All wanting to add value to the Cardano space and utilize the blockchain possibilities, since most of the members have experience in working with blockchain within their profession.
Where required, additional team members with specific knowledge and experience in the Cardano NFT community have been recruited. The Chains of War project started with the creation of Tyrrha, our own lore, background stories and artwork.
The blockchain and NFTs offer us the platform to create a community, raise funds and be on the forefront of blockchain utilization. This gives us an amazing opportunity to really build our fantasy world.
What got the team interested in Blockchain and NFT’s?
For us the most interesting part about crypto is the blockchain technology behind it. We believe we are dealing with a technological development that is going to change the world as we know it.
We often compare it with the internet and think that we only know a part of the possibilities that this technology has to offer.
Similar to the internet in the early days, hardly anyone could tell how the internet would change our lives as we know it and how we use it today.
NFTs are one of these functionalities the blockchain has to offer, which we are very interested in as well.
We’ve been in the Cardano NFT community since Spacebudz, only just missed out on the Berry’s.

What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far with this project?
We find it very hard to reach the CNFT community, as a whole.
Getting our foot in has become a real struggle.
We understand there is some skepticism when it comes to projects that are not being funded or backed by the big names in the space, but we hope to overcome these challenges by delivering high quality work on every aspect of the project.
Growing organically has been our main goal, providing our community members with a fun and inclusive place to hang out and enjoy all of our content. From the story to the artwork.
Why did you choose to launch on Cardano?
One of our team members works as an entrepreneur in sustainability for 7 years. In that capacity he has worked on blockchain projects as well since there is a lot of data involved and transparency and ownership are important topics there.
Cardano is the frontrunner on these aspects. Most of our team members have been into crypto since 2017 and we’ve had our eyes on Cardano ever since. We’ve been following the development all the way from the start and are excited about the progress so far. There is still a long way to go, but development has been going steady and by high quality standards, which is why we are following Cardano in the first place.
How do you see the NFT space evolving over the next few months?
The sky’s the limit. When compared to ETH we think the CNFT space has a lot of ground to make up.
This will happen maybe slowly but surely, and exponentially when more and more people start to flow in seeing how strong the Cardano blockchain develops.
What project would you ideally love to do a collaboration with?
Collab with Claymates!
Do you guys collect NFT’s too? What’s your favourite?
Yes, we collect NFTs ourselves! Favorite is Spacebudz, for their contribution to the Cardano NFT Ecosystem.
Thank you for reading, we hope you enjoyed the interview. If you would like to find out more about the project you can follow them on Twitter or check out their website.
